Justice League #1 from Geoff Johns and Jim Lee has been one of the best selling comics for DC in recent years. It was announced today that the first issue of the new Justice League volume will be going back to press for a sixth printing. Not only was this issue the best selling comic of 2011, but it has also been deemed as the most reprinted comic for DC Comics in the modern era.

^ Please note this is likely NOT the cover of the sixth printing. I just used it as a placeholder.

The new Justice League series has been received very well by most comic fans. While there is a loud minority that isn’t enjoying the book, it’s hard to argue with the continuing high sales numbers this series has pulled. I certainly have been enjoying it — especially issue #4 (which largely focused on Aquaman). Even at its worst, a Justice League book written by Geoff Johns and with art from Jim Lee cannot be as bad as some make it out to be. I love how all of the members are really acting like sport all-stars working together on a dream team at their first practice. They all have big heads and all have different points of view. It has been a really fun first story arc. While I wasn’t thrilled at first about Darkseid being the opening villain, it has been handled in a way that makes it feel like a huge threat that would really bring this team together.

In short — I’m not surprised this book is doing so well. I really congratulate Geoff Johns and Jim Lee for the great work on this book so far. I hope they can keep it up.
